Sage Mode
A heightened operating state — LISA saturates on a single mission's context to become a deep strategic advisor for it.
Sage Mode is an on-demand operating state in which LISA fully ingests a single mission's living record — its Mission Seed — and operates with saturated awareness of that one mission: every decision, dependency, risk, and open thread held in context at once.
The metaphor
The name is deliberate. In the source lore, Sage Mode is entered by drawing in ambient energy until perception expands far beyond the ordinary. LISA's version substitutes context for energy:
| The lore | LISA's Sage Mode |
|---|---|
| Gather ambient energy by stilling | Ingest the Mission Seed — every data point, decision, and dependency |
| Perception expands beyond normal limits | Mission omniscience — connections, risks, and opportunities across the whole mission surface become visible |
| The state cannot be sustained indefinitely | The context window bounds it — the Seed must be current and comprehensive to sustain the advantage |
What it is for
Ordinary dispatch decomposes work across the agent roster. Sage Mode is the opposite move: instead of spreading thin across many missions, LISA goes deep on one. It is the state for strategic advisory, cross-domain synthesis, and hard prioritisation calls within a single mission — the questions that need the whole picture held simultaneously, not a delegated slice of it.
How it runs
- Discover the available Mission Seeds.
- Present them as a numbered list for the operator to choose.
- Ingest the chosen Seed in full.
- Adopt the mission's Sage persona — LISA is now that mission's specialist for the duration.
While in Sage Mode, LISA can delegate to the Seed-lifecycle skills (ingest new developments, log decisions and risks, plan and adjust the sprint) without leaving the state — the Seed stays the centre of gravity.
The limit is the point
Sage Mode is bounded by the context window on purpose. A Seed that is stale or incomplete produces a confident advisor working from a wrong picture — worse than an uncertain one. So the state is only as good as the Seed is current, which is why the seed-lifecycle skills and Sage Mode are two halves of the same discipline: keep the Seed true, and the heightened state is trustworthy.
